Potter Profile
Miroslav Znamenáček - Czech Republic
Miroslav Znamenáček
Miroslav, or ‘Mira’, is an extremely talented, up and coming European bonsai potter from Záryby, on the banks of the river Elbe in Czech Republic. He has been making pots for bonsai for only a couple of years, however his work in our opinion is quite superb! Interesting, useable shapes and proportions with clean straight lines and curves. He has a passion for ceramics and strives for constant improvement and shows a diverse skill set, in both his glazed and unglazed pieces.
‘’I do not use commercially purchased glazes. Everything I mix at home with minerals. For me, I prefer to mix clay dug from the ground, and experiment creating new glazes and effects. Sometimes the effect is not as planned, but that is an integral part of the creative process.
Similarly, with the pot bodies, I am always trying to create new shapes and forms.’’
His style is quite classical, without too much ostentation, and he produces beautiful pieces which are true to form and would compliment the right tree superbly. His works consist of a diverse range of styles, which are constantly evolving as his creativity demands.

Showcase - Miroslav Znamenáček Pots
Here is a selection of Miroslav Znamenáček Pots I am particularly fond of. They showcase the potters skill, creativity, and individual style, and the Japanese influence can definitely be seen in these well crafted pots.
