Bikou - Horie Bikou 堀江美功
Horie Biko(u/h) was born in 1939, and is a master craftsman with over half a century of experience. He has won many awards, including at the Kobachi exhibition. He is better known for his bright coloured containers, such as those with his signature origami crane motif.

This fine example has a thinning and whitening of the glaze to the rope detail rim. The base is carved with a slightly recessed foot ring, with arched feet voids. To one front are two origami cranes, and to the other just the sumptuous blue ruri glaze. Measures: 10.3cm x 4.9cm. |
