European painted pots
Below is a selection of my favourite European potters for painted pots. There are fewer examples in Europe of top quality painte pots; partially due to the time it takes to carry such out detailed paintings and the cost effectiveness. Painting adds a new dimension of skill, creativity, and interest to bonsai pottery; and a story if often envisaged, to compliments the right tree.
Shohin sized trees, and smaller, often require a distinctive or eye catching container to ensure each tree will stand out in a display. It is often therefore desirable to have at least one brightly coloured pot (which you rarely find for larger trees), and one painted pot.
In Japan, the three main pot 'colours' are; sometsuke, akae, and go-sai. Sometsuke is a cobalt blue, akae is red, and go-sai means 5 colour, and painted pots are usually one, or a combination of these.
The pots used for painting are usually white porcelain, as this is a very smooth clay, which is easier to paint on, and it provides a clean white canvass, although darker clays are used in Japan and in Europe.

Peter Krebs - GermanyPeter Krebs is an incredible artist and creator and painter of bonsai pots. His pots are of the highest quality and in addition to being very functional, will surely be very collectable items in the future. He has an in-depth knowledge and appreciation of ancient Chinese and Japanese pottery, which shows through in his work.
