Tofukuji Junior -
The son of arguably the best bonsai potter to have lived, Heian Tofukuji Jnr has a style of his own, and although he took up bonsai pottery later in life, obviously had a fantastic teacher! He was also an art teacher / professor, and unfortunately died quite young after only a short time making bonsai pots.
He made many rustic unglazed pots, from a range of different clays, and some fine glazed containers. His works have never reached the high acclaim of his father, or price, but are sought after in their own right and hold excellent value.
He often used his father's Kaede (trident) hanko, with a line underneath to confirm 'Junior', but sometimes didn't even bother with the junior, so one must be careful in recognising father from son's work ... not to mention forgeries!
