Tom Benda has mastered the art of creating superb classical style pots with his own unique contemporary twist. His pots are often technically very tricky, yet still quite simple aesthetically, with clean lines and smooth curves.
Tom has been practicing bonsai since 1990, and only in recent years has he been creating pots - with incredible effect!
With a 122cm wood fired kiln, and aspirations for a larger one, Tom has the ability to create larger pieces than most, with some unique glazes that are unattainable in a gas or electric kiln.

D498 -A shohin oval with a beautiful but subtle glaze of cream and brown. 15cm

D542 -A fanastic large oval. Due to varying temperatures in the wood fired kiln, the intricate glaze has come out with more tones of blue on one side, and of green on the other!
The thick running glaze, collects into drips at the base of the pot. Sublime! |

D545 -A stunning cut corner rectangle in a deep blue glaze, with cavred/sculpted flowers to one side, and Japanese characters to the other.

D1639 -Tom also makes some fantastic running glazes, such as on this beautiful shohin rectangle. With soft corners and and integral feet, where hte glaze pools to just above the ground line.

D1640 -A large multi-sided semi cascade, glazed in a sumptuous thick baby blue, with toffee brown at the glaze breaks.
